Yacht fresh water tank in need of plastic repair to plastic weld stress crack
Original damage

This is a close-up of a 150 gallon fresh water tank from a yacht.  The tank was T shaped to utilize the available space within the hull.  Through many years of flexing the stress crack above formed.  Crack propagation holes were drilled at the ends of all of the cracks before it was welded.

Water tight repair complete

The manufacture of the tank had discontinued manufacturing this particular tank so a direct replacement was not an option.  The original tank was roto-molded from LMDPE.  Due to the branches within the crack, extra margin was added to the weld to ensure a complete water tight repair.
